@DearAmbellina2113 I think Dickens was really smart... but I couldn’t quite get him...

After reading Hemingway I realised why... he cut to the chase while dickens was more padded and verbose (not an insult, just an observation)

What caused the dichotomy of those two writers?

Hemingway was a journalist and paid to be succinct due to column inches, while dickens serialised in Victorian times and his pay was linked to stretching it out...
