I just finished Member of the Family by Dianne Lake. It is her story of becoming involved with Charles Manson and his group. She never had any involvement in the infamous murders or anything like that; she testified against Manson and helped put him in prison.
I am about to start reading an old science fiction classic published in 1966: The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert Heinlein.

@SW-User Back during the late 60s, my boyfriend and I knew Dianne Lake and her family. I was concerned when she said her family planned to travel around in a rebuilt bread truck and she would be left on her own at the age of 15 (!). She insisted she would be fine on her own. I doubted it so I spoke to her mother. Her mother said, "Don't worry, she will be fine. We are looking for a family she can stay with."
I accepted that and, foolishly, stopped worrying about her. Well...her mother and father DID find a "family" for her to stay with...ultimately, the Manson Family as it turned out.

@Straylight It is about two men in England in the 1800's having separate upbringings. It brilliantly captures the setting and feel of late 19th century England.

Just finished last night 438 days about Salvador Alvarenga, who went fishing from Mexico and survived at sea for that long after a storm. Just started All because of Henry, which is a sequel to A friend like Henry a book by the mother of an autistic child and his friendship with his dog 😢

@SW-User I've read all summer (around 50 books) so I think it's time to take a break. I need to get some crochet projects started for the holidays.
