Do you use Kindle Direct Publishing?

If so, have you found it easy to use and a reliable source of income for your published materials?
SW-User
I would like to know this too if you get a serious answer

@SW-User Publishing is such a wonderful experience. My previous publications have been with periodicals, Xlibris self publishing and Poetry.com, who gave me an honored top position in a couple of their printed anthologies.

I don't think you have to personally have a Kindle, that is how people buy and read your work. All you have to have is an Amazon account and a payment method chosen to get started.

@DanielChristensen Okay, thanks.
I have entered contest and have published on Allpoetry from time to time but nothing that pays and I never won any contests.

@SW-User You're welcome. :) I'm looking at lots of ways to make money writing. It's rather overwhelming really. Check this out.

I've published five books via KDP. It's easy to use, but provides help if needed. It's a reliable source of income if your work sells. Not making sales has nothing to do with the site. You receive emails letting you know when revenues get deposited into your bank account.

@wordswithstrangers Awesome. That is just the sort of things I write. Thank you.
@DanielChristensen You're so welcome! It helps to have a well-written description for your book/s, too.

@wordswithstrangers Wow that's really interesting, I had no idea books with poetry and prose sold well, I often figured nobody buys that stuff much anymore. Does KDP show statistics on what genres sell the best, because that could be really useful for authors?

It's easy to use, but I personally haven't found it a reliable source of income. You have to take care of all the marketing and getting the word out yourself.

They do have this bookshelf kind of thing I found, take a look: https://kindlescout.amazon.com/about

@ScrewThisImDone This looks like a good opportunity. Thank you. :) I am signing up now.

I'll be signing up as soon as I have something, at least that I haven't published before.
never even heard of it, but definitely going to look into it!

@DancingStarGoddess It looks like a nice way to earn some money with your previously unpublished materials online. People download your writing to their Kindle and you get a cut of the sales. I imagine Kindle itself gets the lions share. It's been that way with any publisher I have worked with previously.
@DanielChristensen true, i was going to go through amazon once i had enough material, but that might be one to look into also. thank you kindly for the info!
