I was angry with my friend, I told my wrath, my wrath did end.

I was angry with my foe, I told it not, my wrath did grow.

@SW-User William Blake's "A Poison Tree"

@BlueMetalChick Oh I see. It's good work.

@SW-User It goes like this...

I was angry with my friend
I told my wrath, my wrath did end
I was angry with my foe
I told it not, my wrath did grow

And so I watered it in fears
Night and morning with those tears
And sunned it with dishonest smiles
And with soft deceitful wiles

And it grew both day and night
Until it bore an apple bright
And my foe beheld it shine
For he knew that it was mine

And into my garden stole
When the night had veiled the pole
In the morning, glad I see
My foe outstretched beneath the tree

The poem basically follows the narrator's intense anger with his foe, which remains secret as he refuses to let it show to anyone. It eventually builds from an obsession to a homicidal urge, which is represented by a tree growing a poisoned apple.

@BlueMetalChick I really quite like that poem.

@SW-User I do too. I relate to a it a lot. I've struggled with homicidal urges in the past, and I know what it's like.
SW-User
@BlueMetalChick Same, honestly. Although it hasn't happened much.

@SW-User Wow, really? I didn't expect that of you, Dan. You're full of surprises.
SW-User
@BlueMetalChick Yeah, I know. It was about the same time as I was severely suicidal. Depression had one hell of a hold on me, but even then it wasn't common. It's not happened since I started taking meds.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User Jesus, really? Do you still use meds?
SW-User
@BlueMetalChick I have to, or else things would get very, VERY bad for me.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User Well I guess that's a good example of a time when medication works well.
SW-User
@BlueMetalChick Exactly. And if it works, might as well keep at it.
