My wife said the babies first 6 months were the most special time of her life. I remember feeling like a zombie all the time and having to keep a very close eye on what they were getting up to. My 15 year old boy is a bit of a nerd (in a nice way). He argues with his sisters which irritates his parents but most of the time he's a really sensible chap. Hopefully that will continue. The girls might be hard work....time will tell...

Sleeping pills are addictive. I have taken one recently and it really worked but you cant have them if you have been drinking alcohol and Ive been self medicating a lot....probably not a good idea...You should try some herbal stuff or a nice bath with some smelly's in it. Is it getting to sleep that's the issue or waking up in the night? I think its more common for women to have the latter. It's caused by having too much on your mind. If you can't function very well see the doctor for some pills to reduce your stress levels. Theres no shame in turning to medicine to help you improve your situation.x

I totally agree NPC! Well, not with the baby part. At 60 it is hard to keep up with a 16 month old baby. She is not one to sit around for long. But I wouldn't give it up for gold!
The ultimate test starting this afternoon. Five days of babysitting!

My children have grown to be everything a parent could hope for. We were involved in their lives every single day! Now at 30 they still go everywhere with us, and invite us to a lot of their age group parties. Life is good!
@sometimes:
I think that whether you adopt or whether you are there during the first months, you still give it your all... they are a part of you when you make it a matter of the heart... DNA is not the issue, it's a decisive choice, every day.
Jace:
Both my girls are more difficult than my son was.
I lose two of my kids this summer, and I wish them well. I know they'll be visiting from time to time.

It all happens in the blink of an eye
Wouldn't exchange the experience for anything.
Jace:
I will never use sleeping pills.
I have to be my usual self at night, which is akin to being on yellow alert.
When my cell vibrates, it's usu one of my almost adults....

These days, they shall pass, and I will miss them
Jace:
I use supplements, :)
GABA, melatonin, turmeric, valerian root

I'm a bit of a heretic when it comes to medicine... I'd rather figure it out than visit a doctor (unless obviously life threatening)

NPC: they say having your own is an entirely different experience, and I believe it, though it's not an experience I've had :)

I agree. NPC. I loved my teens. Scary time that it was, i wouldnt change it.

Lonelytoo.......you apparently didn't entirely hate it all the time.
@sometimes: indeed,
I do not love it... but I love the persons who are my teens and almost adults..

Well I taught thirty of them at a time for years and didn't entirely love it all the time!

Your experience pretty much sums up everyone's experience

NPC: there are other options to calm you down though...it should only be temporary to allow you to function better
