Question for Americans. Is it true, in US you don't say sorry if you fart in public?

Like you accidentally fart in classroom or somewhere like that?
I mean isn't that basic manners?

Most of us are too embarrassed to admit the fart came from us. Especially women. But if it's undeniable that it came from you, it's normal here to say excuse me.
