ScabbyHeart Alright, I'm back.
Christians have no right to persecute
anyone. This one scripture says it all. Take special note on what this says...
Romans 3:23-26 - "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;..."
Who has sinned?
ALLWho falls short of the glory of God?
ALLI don't see one thing in that verse that even
hints that God singles out different groups of people for their sins, do you? I don't see one word in that verse that says "You filthy murderers, homosexuals, and thieves!!" No. You'll notice we're
all in the same boat. Sinners that fall short of heaven. Jesus didn't single one person out over another. That also means that not one of us is any better than the other.
WE DON'T GET TO SET THE STANDARD; GOD DOES
What does that mean? It means God does not categorize SIN, like humans do. Sin is sin. It separates every one of us from our Father in heaven. We all fall short.
Short of what? What does that mean, exactly, that we "fall short". Who says so?? It means that not by our standards, but by
God's standards, our sin is keeping us from heaven. And he really hates that, because sin keeps us separated from Him.
People make a huge mistake by assuming that God hates us so much. If God hated us so much, he certainly would not have left his heavenly home to come to this earth, only to be nailed to a wooden cross, and suffer the agonizing torture of being suspended by his wrists and feet between heaven and earth. That sure doesn't sound like a God that hates us, to me. He didn't
have to do that. He
volunteered.So....Jesus hates SIN....but NOT the sinner, himself.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
God is fair. Sin is not. He did not create it and he cannot condone it. He died on the cross to pay for our sins with His blood, just so we could have eternal life, if we so choose. He cannot make that choice for us. If he did, he would not be letting us exercise free will. Would you like to force someone to love you? No. That would not be true love. Jesus felt the same way. When we come to him on our own accord, that tells him and shows him how much we love him. He did not make us to be unfeeling robots. If it were not for him, none of us would go to heaven. Then how would we like that? We should be very grateful to him for his great self-sacrifice.
