Have there been any rapes, murders, or DUI committed by any illegal immigrants from south of the border? Yes.
One may argue that other nationalities including Americans also commit these crimes too. Yes, this is also true.
However, the law states that any potential immigrant to the US must undergo a criminal and health background check. This is in everyone's best interest. Does it guarantee we will be safe? No, but it's one more check toward making us safer. Notwithstanding that it is actually illegal not to go through a vetting procedure first.
As someone who is an immigrant myself, and now a citizen, I do take issue that I, and many millions of others over years, have had to pay a significant amount of money to be screened by immigration, health exams, criminal background checks, interviews, and waiting for our turn to enter the country, and others just walk in demanding their rights...and get them. Tell me, what is fair and equitable about that?
