I hear ya man! I've often called myself a chameleon as I like to blend in and make others happy even though I'm not happy doing some of those things. I think in the long run, others aren't convinced and you may even have a bad attitude doing some of those things, so it really has the opposite effect.
But over the last 6 months due to a marriage that has been failing over the last 4 years and no sex in the last 2 years I'm caring less and less about trying to please others. It's a true eye opener. Best of luck man, but all I can say is do things for yourself and take babysteps on trying not to please others. Can't go cold turkey, but the power of no is a good one.
