I continuously explained "Baby it's cold outside " to far too many people who failed to grasp that the woman was singing about the fact that her FAMILY would be mad at her for staying with a man. It would "tarnish" her reputation....and theirs. It was not about sexual assault or coercion. This is very apparent in the lyrics as well as to people who undetstsnd the dynamics of the time in which the song was written. That matters...applying rules of today to the past is a lesson in ignorance and a failure to learn anything.
This week it is We Are Young by Fun
The lines:

My seat's been taken by some sunglasses asking 'bout her scar and

But between the drinks and subtle things

Emotional scars. That is a phrase and choice of words...widely used in literature and music and poetry.
The musical artist confirmed this was not about domestic violence, by the way...it only takes a bit of searching google to find that out....
