I noticed that when I write fanfiction, I tend to start the stories with something lighthearted, such as two characters adopting a dog. Then I often end the story on a darker note, with one character, traumatized but finally free, leaving town with the dogs while the other character is arrested for some horrible crime.
And then sometimes I will also write the most outlandish crossovers, such as Mary Cooper from The Big Bang Theory meeting Galactus from The Fantastic Four.
