I Have Something to Say

Meryl Streep was my favorite actress of all time...now she's spoilt my enjoyment of watching her movies. Couldn't she just accept her Lifetime Achievement award (and deservedly so) without politicizing the event, and offending half of her fans with her hate speech? Couldn't she just be gracious without bringing politics into it?

These people don't realize that many of their fans have different views, and when you start with the divisive speech, you alienate those fans from you.

The left have to ruin everything. I can't even watch the news anymore...something I looked forward to every day...but it's so biased, I just couldn't take it, and now that's gone.

Report the news, accept your awards, but leave the political correctness and bias out of it.

Unfortunately Trump has taken an already polarized society and pushed both sides so far apart that there is little common ground any more. And you notice that Trump responded to Meryl Streep with his tweets. As if he has nothing better to do than tweet at an actress.

I am afraid it is going to get much, much worse after Trump is elected and continues to tweet and bully.

I agree with you that it was not the best call for Trump to tweet in response, however, there is nothing more divisive in this country than the left/socialists/progressive/SJW, that has been eroding this country for the whole time I've been here, IMO, which is more than 25-years.

And what have they done to erode the country? What has changed that you would have kept the same?

And it had nothing at all to do with the racist, homophobic, islamophobic, misogynistic, divisive, bullying, taunting comments that Trump, his aides, and supporters made? You didn't see anything like this reaction when Reagan or the two Bushes were elected. Might there be a reason for it?

No it wasn't. Have you watched Trump's speeches? Listened to his words? Read his tweets? Listened to his advisors? You can watch them on youtube if you missed them the first time around.

It is not only reasonable but moral to oppose the unacceptable.

@windinhishair: You see, all those hateful labels which you called Trump and his supporters is one of the reasons why he won, and your side lost.

I don't take kindly to being called these untrue and hateful names, and neither do the millions who support Trump. We have been tired and subjugated by the leftist progressive/Marxists for too long. We grew tired of the PC, and destroying our traditional values.

Your side hates American values. It hates free speech, unless it's coming from your side. All you know is how to use hateful labels, and yet you hypocritically call yourselves the party of tolerance and diversity, and nothing could be further from the truth. There is nothing but intolerance for anyone who thinks differently from you. Your so called inclusivity only includes left wing ideology, which is virtually the same as Sharia...shut down and demonize (even prosecute in some western countries) for holding "illegal" views as the Germans now call it, and charge a man with a hate crime for saying that "Islam is at war with the west."

This censorship, this demonization, of even liberals like Bill Mahr – who was attacked for saying the same because no one can disagree with your ideology – is why people grew tired of the insidious creep of PC that has crept into every segment of our society and put Trump in office.

@Carissimi: And which American values would those be that you so value? Torture? Hatred of non-whites? White supremacy? Hatred of Muslims? Intolerance of gays and lesbians? Voter suppression? All of those were expressed by Trump and his supporters during the election, and since. If those and other similar views are what you espouse, you're welcome to them, but count me out.

Twenty-five years of Rush, Drudge, Fox, Hannity, etc. have left you unable to distinguish between fact and fiction. And, thankfully, still in the minority of this country even though you control the White House and Congress.

@NearMiss: I don't believe those are American values (they certainly aren't mine), but Trump and his supporters have supported all of them. Supporting Trump isn't like a buffet where you can choose which part of him you'll support. You get the whole package. That's the point.

When did the Supreme Court support torture????

I listen to him closely, but watch what he actually does. I guess you didn't remember his statements about Mexicans being rapists and criminals, his statements that an American judge of Mexican descent can't do his job because of his heritage, his continued attacks on Mr. Khan, a Muslim whose son died defending this country, his appointment of the white supremacist Steve Bannon as a key advisor, his reorganization the National Security Council today to give that white supremacist a seat while minimizing the role of the director of national security and the chairman of the joint chiefs, his signing of an executive order yesterday banning Muslim entry to the US from seven Muslim countries (while allowing Christians from the same countries to apply to come over), his not banning Muslim entry from the countries that actually produced the 9/11 hijackers (primarily Saudi Arabia, where he has business interests) while using 9/11 as his excuse, his speaking repeatedly and vociferously about Christians being discriminated against in the number of refugees being allowed into the US (when the numbers were equal), his refusal to speak out or denounce attacks on protesters at his rallies, and in fact saying they should be attacked and that he would pay the legal bills of those who did, his refusal to renounce the support of former KKK member David Duke after first lying that he didn't know who the guy was (until video surfaced of Trump talking about him earlier), his continued insistence that over 3 million illegals voted and cost him the popular vote (when even Republicans don't believe that), his lie that he didn't mock a crippled reporter for his disability, and on and on and on. He must have done none of those things, or maybe you just missed them in your adoration of Trump. His values that he clearly articulated and that got him elected and that he is now implementing are not the values that a majority of Americans share--just a minority who voted for him, like you. And that's a good thing. If you thought his policies based on those values were the best, God help you.

@NearMiss: "When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

That is the direct quote. That isn't fake news. That isn't me talking. That is Trump. You can watch him say it any time you like online. But you won't, because you're in denial about what he has said, what he has done, and what he is doing. The other things on my list are all things he's said or done. You can ignore those too. That is your right.

I'm not spreading lies. I'm spreading Trump's own words and deeds which are easily confirmed. Do we really live in a world now where things you've seen with your own eyes are lies?
