@CountScrofula Oh they'll just pass the cost to the buyer. Plus big corps will have their way to circumvent the whole thing (same as all the other taxes) so that only the small business and physical people have to bother with those.

@Elessar Well like - okay an example.

Sour oil is common worldwide and its hard to refine. The US is VERY GOOD at refining it. Sweet oil is rarer and better, but easy to refine - most countries can refine it.

So the US exports its sweet oil, and imports sour oil to refine at home.

If the US places a bunch of tariffs, these gigantic super-refineries all over Texas will be empty.

The oil companies will be REALLY PISSED OFF.

The oil companies are the actual elites who run things. Trump's tariffs won't last long.
