Georgia on my mind...

A school that doesn't inform a new school of previous issues with a student is a school that is not following laws and standard procedure.

A school that fails to listen to a parent when they say it is an emergency and does not act with urgency is a school that is failing...epically.

We watched hundreds of officers stand around and listen while children were murdered.

Now we watch as the failures of law enforcement and a school to take warnings seriously results in 4 more deaths.

The law acted quickly and should be commended for stopping the incident before more were killed....but only if you choose to ignore the fact that they could have prevented the whole thing by acting in May of 2023 and not taking the word of a clearly stupid parent.

And then again, you would have to ignore that the school was warned by the mother and is using the excuse that they didn't know who the kid was or what he looked like.

There are ways to find out quickly and I am baffled by these lame and uselss excuses.

And so now Georgia is deciding to take threats seriously and has arrested at least 15 young people ( I saw a list of 11 and a note that at least three more had been arrested and charged) in counties around Atlanta ....

Suddenly, it is important to do something about these threats?!

The country, and certainly a single US state, can't just arrest it's way out of the hole that it has dug for itself. That might plug the hole today but the iceberg of mental health problems coupled with easy access to deadly weapons will continue to rip though the vessel.

I wish I could propose a solution but even if everyone agrees on a solution it will be years before it would be properly effective.
