Storytime. Today was the first sunny day we’ve had all week. After picking my son up from preschool, we went to take a walk at a local nature trail

before heading home for dinner.

For contextual purposes, please note that my child is extremely loud. (If you know him, you know this. 😂) He also has never met a single stranger. He truly loves people and is very engaging. (Again, if you know him, you know this.) We’ve been working on boundaries of personal space as well as learning which settings are best for a talking voice.

Okay, so we’re at the nature trail. We’re exploring and enjoying the experience. We’ve seen some passersby and he’s doing great with offering a simple wave or brief hello. Until..

As we’re finishing up the trail, we are approaching someone stretched out on a bench and relaxing with their shoes off.

Absolutely nobody.

My child:
*literally stops mid-stride and turns his body a full 180 degrees to look at the person on the bench*

*still looking at the person on the bench, bellows to me at the top of his lungs, while I’m only a footstep apart from him*

“Mommy! Why does she have her shoes off? And why are her feet on the bench? She knows better than that.”

🫣😩🤦🏽‍♀️
