From what little I know it's the physical attributes that define beauty. Some will play it as a race determined scale derived from regions or origin. I personally see those lines completely blurred as to what was once considered "The Norm," or to be beautiful has changed through out the decades. We now have a more veluptuous curvy "Norm," for what is attractive in the US, differing from what was a more slender appeal nit so long ago.
