My child is upset because of her American friend's dad.

My child plays Roblux and she has this friend from the US whom she chats with. Her friend's dad asked his child to stop talking to mine because we're from Australia and Australians are poor.

How can one judge people's financial status based on where they're from and how do you explain the mentality of these kinds of people?

So why does he want his child's friends to be rich though? It sounds very suspicious. Especially online... what does he want from them?

@HannibalAteMeOut either something scammy or the dad is Lord Foppington.

@HannibalAteMeOut I have no idea. I am monitoring my child's activities. If the "friend" asks for more info I will be deleting the app.

@GunFinger that's good, it's so dangerous for children online. And I'm sorry they've upset your child... friendships can be confusing for them, especially in a space like that.

I do not think most Americans imagine AUS to be some third world nation.
I have no clue though why her dad would say something like that.

Kind of funny, we have the technology to talk to people all over the planet basically for free (aside regular internet cost) and instead of comparing cultures, what do people do? Argue.
That's a ridiculous assumption, but what's even worse: why is his child not allowed to talk to poor people?

Anyway whats money got to do with having friends, if they think that way who needs them.
Ignorant because they don’t have any way of knowing someone’s financial status based on where they live.

Stupid because it matters to him in the first place, especially regarding a friendship between children. I feel sorry for his child.

I really hope this doesn’t give your child a lasting bad impression of Americans, because we’re not all that idiotic. 😞
