Mothers think they can get away with it because ‘they gave birth’ to them, but I wish every mother knew that their daughter is not just ‘your daughter’ she is a human being, her own person, anyone who abuses someone whether they carried them for 9 months or not, should face consequences. just sayin

@Aaliyah22 Actually, I was adopted. And this happened, once, when I was an adult. It wasn't, however, the only abuse I suffered from her. There was no way anyone would've believed me. Her connections in our community and her access to lawyers and judges, plus her sterling reputation would have kept her safe from successful prosecution.

I can really relate to this. My own crazy mother sexually molested me in her apartment when I was in my 40s and then laughed when I threatened to call the police. She had a lot of powerful friends including in the police dept and she was an excellent liar as well who could get people to believe anything. I was sure I was the one who would've been locked up. Among other things, she had a thriving career as a child development expert and nursery school director. She gave parenting seminars in which she advocated gentle child rearing. She would've claimed I was delusional, mentally disturbed, and I would've wound up in a psych ward somewhere.

@SW-User She abused a lot of people, though probably not sexually. I believe she may even have killed some of them; it can always be worse.

@Elevatorpitches Knowing of my mother's powerful connections, I didn't dare report her. Most of these abusive parents have enough power in their world to know they can, pretty much, get away with anything.
