I Have Something to Say

Many years ago I was a devout christian. As such I studied the bible but, much to my surprise, found it was really just a badly put together collection of myths and superstitions taken from various older belief systems. I realized I'd been deceived so broke free from the chains of christianity.

I find reading the christian posts here very reassuring, they confirm I made the right decision.

You know I also went your same road as well.

Then one day I realized...

If I follow God out of the desire of heaven or fear of hell or not getting heaven... then really all I love is myself and my own self-preservation. Would I side with God if he wasn’t the greatest power, with influence, protection, blessings, promising strength, was potentially dangerous, or if I could get nothing from? Would we do this in our day to day lives? Be with a human we found displeasing and dangerous in every way? Most likely, no. So that shows us the proof that no one “loves” God but what they can get from him.

I reason that only if we weren’t told about God promising a heaven or a hell then we could see who genuinely did what they did. Once we are told of heaven and hell it ruins genuineness.

Free will:
I didn’t ask to exist or tell my parents to mate.
I didn’t pick or choose my brain, body, the world, what it contains, or the options I have to choose FROM.
We are forced to adapt to this life by proving ourselves pleasing, productive, and harmless to others OR we are negatively labeled, sent to be “fixed”, or locked up.
We are trying to survive and we seek pleasure, otherwise we would never complain, we attempt to avoid painful consequences.

We had no original choice in ANYTHING. So why are we labeled “sinners”? For not doing what a personality wants, just like humans do with us? Calling us all negative labels from A to Z when we don’t do what they WANT?

I am with you in your experience. I am glad I am not the only one that has had this epiphany of thought and realization.

Thank you for your post Susie1960!
