I Have Something to Say

Don't tell me that other countries are "more racist" or whatever. I don't give two shits. I do not live there. That doesn't concern me. I live here, in America, where racism is still an issue that can affect/effect me directly. So I'm gonna focus on us.

Yeah, I get really tired of that false equivalence bullshit. How bad things are elsewhere doesn't make it any more tolerable here - and I have to say I was astonished, when we got to the US 8 years ago, how entrenched and endemic racism still is here, how central it is to every aspect of social structures.

Our introduction to this was a few weeks after we arrived in Arkansas, to find a woman had a cross burned on her lawn, to try and terrify her...because she had mixed-race children ?!? ... that's 2008.
