I Have Something to Say
So football registration has been completed for both of my kids.
Mini Camp has commenced... I think this will be another amazing year!!!!
for a few weeks we were unsure if my oldest wanted to play. He was undecided but as opposed to other years i told him it was up to him this time and i wasn't going to fight him on it.
in the end he decided to play.
so my son falls in the the MiddleWeight Division. He's 12 5'3" 113lbs
hes fast, and has been working 6 years to get his game on point.
anyways because he's 12 the maximum weight for carrying the ball is 115lbs!!! that means i have to watch what my already very lean child eats and drinks. I have no idea how I am going to do this!!! he damn near eats the entire day!!!!
If he goes above 115 he'll be a striper and will not be able to run that ball. the Striper Maximum weight is 125lbs which I doubt hell reach this year.
Anyways he may have the option of moving up to the next division however those kids are heavier 12 year olds with a max weight of 130 or 140 to be a striper.
He almost by a very slim chance lost his number that he's been for the last 6 years because the coaches all collectively decided it would be best for him and the team to keep him down at this level.
he's been #10 since he was 6!!! since he's staying down a weight class an under-classmate already had the same number.
a coin toss was the deciding factor. my kid chose heads and won.
He had suggested a physical challenge to see who would win but the other kid refused. he suggested a quick course of who could run suicides and complete 10 push ups in the least amount of time. the kid and other parent declined having observed my son from the sidelines while waiting for their own games to start on sundays, they said and i agree that my kid had an unfair advantage over the other kid. Im not knocking him at all He's an amazing Lineman if the challenge had been more to do with strength than speed it may have been more level lol
we could have easily lost the coin toss but for some sheer luck he won!!!
anyways my kid has team mates he's played with on both the Middle Weight and the division above it. but he, his dad and i would all prefer him to stay down one level so there risk of injury is significantly lower.... as per suggested by the coaches.
ugh id never thought id have to watch my skinny kids weight and keep him from gaining too much.
he is allowed to gain i believe 1/2 a lb to 1 lb per game after each game...
wish us luck, were all gonna be miserable if my kid isn't eating enough calories to support his growth. If it comes down to it I know he'd rather not play than be a striper - I guess well see who the season pans out...
ok so this probably wasn't interesting to you at all but thanks for reading!!!
