I Have Something to Say

This might be the ramblings of a tired mind that woke too early, but I’m tired of the current state of divisiveness in our country (speaking of the United States - if you aren't from the U.S., you might get bored reading this :)). It didn’t begin with our current leader being voted into office, it began long ago, maybe at the founding of our nation; but never in my memory has there been such hate being spewed forth from so many different groups/fronts and at every level from our federal government, down to each and every neighborhood in our country. I’m tired of it, and while I don’t want to blame it all on Trump, I believe he has given voice to what we are experiencing. Actually, as I think about it, he has more than given it a voice, he has encouraged it, and uses it to further his goals. He is pitting us one against the other, while he gloats.
He knows exactly what he is doing. Is it a form of mental instability or genius? I submit it is nothing more than his unchecked ego, and a willingness to destroy us to win… win and have everyone bow down before him applauding his genius, while we tear our nation apart. I keep remembering Houston’s and Lincoln’s words: A nation (Houston), or House (Lincoln) divided against itself cannot stand.
This divisiveness, as I said, is not new, but it had been tamped down, held at bay, hidden, and not allowed to come to the surface and run rampant through the streets. We as a nation had long been trying, and in fits and starts, successfully dealing with it. We were slowly making progress. Or so we thought. What we as a nation were not aware of, was this hidden fear of the unknown, of those different than us (the non-Christian, members of the LGBT community, non-white, non-Southern or Northern, of opposing political views, of different heritages, different sexes, even from different parts of the country, etc.). This hidden fear, which led many to mistrust and hate everything not them, is no longer hidden. It’s out there now and being stoked and encouraged to flourish so one man, Donald Trump, can be, in his own mind, a God.
How have we let this happen? Who among us wanted this? Aren’t we better than this? Is this how we make America great again, or how we destroy it?
This IS NOT a discussion of politics, nor of race, religion, etc. It is the thoughts of a tired mind who sees hate, mistrust of others, and pure simple meanness taking control of us, even down to the individual homes within our communities and neighborhoods.
I’m tired of it – it makes me sad, sometimes quite mad.
It is very troubling and sad.
What makes it even worse is the fact that it's something that has been there lurking in the minds of many for years, only under control by modern laws but it's never gone away and the opportunists saw in Trump the person that would channel all the hate and ignorance they carry inside and make it look as patriotism, when in reality it is destroying the country.
The world is watching in horror.
Very dark times ahead.

Obama was the great instigator of this "divisiveness" caused by his lies, narcissistic behavior, arrogance and his anti-white actions, anti-religion and anti-gun attitude. He was not honest and had dishonest people working for him (Hillary / Libya and Eric Holder / straw gun sales that killed people)
Obama deported more people "Between 2009 and 2015 his administration has removed more than 2.5 million people through immigration orders, which doesn’t include the number of people who "self-deported" or were turned away and/or returned to their home country at the border by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)." PER ABC NEWS.

David Cameron apparently thought Barack Obama was one of the "most narcissistic, self absorbed people"

Our unemployment levels are lower than during Obama's reign and Blacks have had the lowest unemployment since Trump took office. Our economy is doing better than ever. Our GDP was stagnant during Obama's terms and is now on it's way up.

Obama created this "divisiveness" it only showed itself when the majority of the American people voted and elected Trump as they were fed up with the lies, cheating and arrogance of the phony politicians that thrive in Washington.

You are another idiot liberal sir that does not look at facts.

@acpguy I don't remember calling you an idiot, obviously my oversight. How do you know I'm a Liberal? And, as to your other remarks, I won't waste my time saying how idiotic they are, how full of it you are, and how obviously prejudice you are. Besides, trying to divert from the subject only works in a world where there are alternate truths and facts. This had zero to do with President Obama, other than the fact that white racists couldn't stand the fact that he was black, and yes, began creating the divisiveness that Trump capitalized on. You sir, are worse than an idiot, you are willfully stupid.

@frequentlyme You do not read very well, as far as being a racist you are woefully mistaken as several of my best friends are black, Mexican and Native American. If you are willing to blast Trump then you must compare him to the previous head narcissistic in that position otherwise you are not being fair and in that case you are prejudice.

You argue like a typical liberal not willing to look at facts only base your opinions on prejudice news and ideas.

Also you call me "willfully stupid" then you are much worse off as you base your thoughts on nothing but feelings not on facts, you lack proof and common sense. Another sign of liberal thinking.

I also have a business and make over $1M per year what is your annual income? Have you accomplished much in your life other than be a whiner? Oh, I suppose you are living off of government subsidies / retirement instead of working for a living and contributing much. I am 67 and still work, do Habitat for Humanity, work with kids in 4H and volunteer for several educational projects. What do you do? Besides being a mindless liberal bigot.

If you ask me, PC culture is what started it. Trump is the backlash of people who were fet up with SJWs telling them they can never say anything, because everything is racist/sexist/ist/ism.

But. I mean. Ahhhhh. I got it. The nation has been divisive since its founding, true. Republicans and democrats. That has split the country down the middle since the beginning. That was the purpose.

However. Back then, there was always the overarching identity of "American". These days, there is a distinct lack of patriotism, in my opinion. Multiculturalism is the issue.

You can have as many cultures as you like, but they all have to have one overarching identification, "American". But, if they do not view themselves as part of the whole, then it leads to a lack of cohesiveness. A bunch of cultures attempting to claim social dominance = lack of cohesiveness. Probably an issue with political correctness, which had a very amiable and respectable goal, but whose means were innately bound for failure.

As a non-homogeneous society, that makes it very difficult, for us.

Take after 9/11. The nation all identified as "American". *We* were attacked. *Our* people were killed. Over time, that identity faded, and we went back to our own identities.

Dunno. That's what I would guess.

I agree. That's all I can say to it. :-(
