I Have a Question

@Lizabee & @NeonCandy: No, I did not get screwed out of anything. I saw the post, and thought I would raise a flag.

I have a brain, and I use it. People should try that, every once in a while, but some don't.

Just trying to save someone out there from getting screwed over.

First time I see this particular scam though.

@frostyflower: it's a soft pitch. She dangles the "I am a damsel in distress, sitting here all by my lonesome, incapable of solving technology problem"

Technically savvy, big guy, steps in to save the day. Connecting with Skype is now his idea, to solve the problem. He does not think it's a scam, because he suggested connecting, using Skype, to solve the problem, not realizing that this is the only potential outcome.

How much has this cost you already?

OK, well, the rest goes like this:

Oh, I am not having any problems with Skype

or

Skype has some problems.

either way, the next step is: can I help you with your Skype problem.

Oh, would you: here's my Skype handle, call me...

Yes, and as it turns out, the problem is related to something that will move you away from SW, and onto a medium that lets you start messaging immediately...

ah, lame.

Then again, my BIL was scammed by an employer, and he didn't understand until we asked the right questions to understand the situation. "Why would your bank close your account?" "Wait, so your employer asked you to cash checks for him because he couldn't get to his bank, and then on top of that, his paychecks to you bounced. Oh honey, you got scammed."

The only thing I remember about the poster, is that the profile picture looked like a model, with an 18-21 age range.

I'm guessing, "she" convinces someone to test call her, it's a dude with his junk out on the other end.
