I Have a Question

I think it's ok as long as you don't take it too seriously. If you're sitting in front of your monitor and your blood pressure is rising then it's time to disconnect and have some interaction with the real word.

This is all an attempt to start a debate about debating. I'm not falling for it XD

People tend to think that stating a difference of opinion is an invitation to debate. I don't like to go on and on once I've said my piece but I don't like to leave people hanging either. I'll stay through one or two replies and then move on.

Life's too short to argue with nameless, faceless strangers who were wrong to begin with any way ;) LOL

The more time I spend online the more I think no. People can be close minded and when you don't agree with them they get aggressive and offensive. People just like warring for the sake of warring is the feel I get. So why even bother? I have decided to shut up with anything that leads to a potential debate.

@Ido I agree with you.I stopped doing that myself. It isn't worth my time and It only makes me stressed because I hate confrontations. Some people on the internet aren't mature enough to realize that debating someone doesn't mean insulting them and being aggressive.

It usually turns out badly, because people do not realize that a debate is not about shouting the other person down.

Of course, nothing wrong with defending the things you stand for!

Originalme: yes. Just today someone from my friends list blocked me. Because I did not join her hate rant of people, mods and the site. She became sarcastic and offensive when I told her to give the mods a chance and take things with a pinch of salt. I guess, for some people, this is a place to create drama.

Originalme - well yes. That is also true. But online and with strangers, it seems too much hassle to even talk reasonably with people. It's better to just keep out of some stuff.

Depends on who you are debating with and what your end goal is. If you are debating with your average schmuck on the internet there's no harm in it, just don't bother getting too invested in it.

share ideas with them through ways of knowing why choose opposite views..some take pride and some just sees it through..people gets angry might react..tension can occur that's a debate's nature :)
