CNN, New York Times, and the BBC were not allowed into Spicer's press briefing. Maybe a few others. Y'know, three months after Spicer was quoted as saying that banning press from access to government is what dictatorships do.

When the media becomes the purveyor of false information ... it's time for them to go
CaptainCanadia · 41-45, M
So Fox News and Breitbart should be banned?
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
Yeah. I think that it's control over the press is what Germany swore by to take over.

@TyphoidJerry: why because libs can't handle the truth ? They can't find Even a lib dog catcher ... libs have no power

@TexChik: where is the truth found? ._.
If not in the media?
CaptainCanadia · 41-45, M
Sigh. Lemme get to the point. If you ban the press, you are taking away freedom of the press. The press need to have freedom because they are important for democracy. If the only press allowed are pro-government, that's bad.

Sean Spicer said banning the press is what dictators do, and now Trump is doing it. Get it?
TexChik · F
@TyphoidJerry: however the press is blatantly corrupt , stooping to lies and omissions . They are not held accountable and are a threat to democracy
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
@TyphoidJerry: I think that the press is bad and is being treated as such. Thats just my opinion.
CaptainCanadia · 41-45, M
They still get that freedom. Just like people get free speech to say things you don't like. You don't take freedoms away because you're mad. Freedom of the press is a right, not a privilege.

Is America a country that gives up what makes it great the moment people get scared or mad?
TexChik · F
@Dainbramadge: and the ability of the press to sway opinion with lies is the only weapon the libs have left
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
@TexChik: Yes it is. I do find it funny that they got booted. The last press conference I saw Trump let the CNN guy ask questions and all he did was ask Trump why he called them fake news. Trump gave examples and everything and hte guy still kept asking about it.
@TyphoidJerry:

Denigning a press unit privileged access to a meeting room, is not at all "banning the press".

No inhibition of what they print has occurred.

The press has no entitlement to privilege or respect ... nor do they need it.

Each reader can still determine CNN's relevance, their substance and degree of arrogance undiluted, unihibited and uninterrupted.

@questionWeaver: Good answer. :-)
Windsylph · F
@questionWeaver: respectfully, Cowboy... banning certain press reps from a news briefing is the very definition of oppression and censorship especially while favoring one branch of news reporters over the other.

Fox has already curried favor with Trump and thus writes what Trump wants to hear to keep that favor. This is a form of censorship and those who do not believe this are supporting hearing only news that puts their candidate in good stead. This is one way dictators get started.
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
@Windsylph: So you want to have CNN, and other news groups of the same caliber, be able to get into the meeting even tho they are going to twist what ever he says into something bad.???
Windsylph · F
@Dainbramadge: what I'm saying is that I think there is value in the hearing/reading reports of opposing views. There is a great deal to learn, and shutting down different modes of communication or different representatives doesn't give us all the information. So yes I am in favor of inviting all the news media and allowing every individual to make their own interpretation.

In my opinion, this is one of the things that makes America great.

Soft breezes to you.
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
@Windsylph: Well I myself don't mind at all that Trump did what he did. CNN should be covering the events that happen not only saying bad things about him. He is President now and CNN seems to still be in denial about it.
I don't think he broke any rules or laws with what he did. Maybe CNN and the others will grow up now or soon.
TexChik · F
@Pirate: to a lib , the truth is what they say it is ....and the media IS the propaganda wing of the democrat party . And only a lib would say the biased reporting and fake news provided by the media is the truth . Without accountability for their actions the media likely will never be trustworthy again

@TexChik: I don't know why this is all about liberal vs conservative....but I believe that facts are governed by evidence on what happened. Can you give me some example of fake facts about Donald Trump that the media spread about him? .-.

He claimed they were lying when they said that he would ban Muslims, but check this video clip out:

Donald Trump lies quite a lot :v

But on the other hand, I completely understand where you are coming from when you say the media cannot produce UNBIASED statements. They always twist the scenario in favor of a specific concept, but if you ignore insinuations, you can follow the baseline of the argument and get at least some things that are incontrovertible :/
