What's your back in the day we'd?

My gran would slip is pocket money like it was class A drugs

Allowance? I was allowed to live there and do all the chores for free. 🙄

We did get to ride in the back of the truck to our baseball games and that was fun.

we'd get enough money to get a cheese pie or sandwich at school and I would collect them and buy collectible stickers at the end of the week :))

We did the bottle returns! A friend of mine thought he would be clever and climb over the wall at the back of the shop, grab some returned bottles and take them back in the front to claim his reward.
He wasn't smart enough to realise they marked each bottle handed in. He was chased out of the shop and we all laughed our heads off.

My father wouldn't give us an allowance, but he'd give us a few dollars for mowing the lawn or doing tge laundry, etc
That's how we made a bit of money.

Back in my day the internet was a place of opportunities rather than fakeness, misinformation and distraction.

We hunted wild beasts with nothing more than sharp sticks. Then we waited for someone to invent fire so we could cook it

I never got an allowance. I was expected to do things around the house, get As in school, play sports, and have a part time job by the time I was 16. I had a good childhood though and a lot of great times.

Play board games instead of video games.

We played outside

We took turns playing on a computer at home.

We used manual ticket markers in the public transport and only had paper tickets or paper passes we'd buy monthly stamps for.


You'd have to fight for those with slummers here these days. 🫣😅

Never got any sort of allowance, I would deliver newspapers, mow lawns, shovel snow, rake leaves for pocket money.
