does anyone want to be a housewife anymore

I've loved my life as a housewife. Free time to volunteer, read. Silence to think. Best of all, since my husband was a schoolteacher, I was available to do our favorite way of travel: summers--weeks or even months on bicycles with camping gear--always down roads new to us, where we never knew what was around every corner. Blue Highways, as its author termed the back roads of America and Canada. I was also free to do shorter trips solo during the school year. Couldn't have done that if I'd been an employee, not to the extent we did anyway. It made us who we've become, who we are.

Only to a domestically submissive husband who would make a lot of money and would adore me for as little as doing the dishes. 😂
