Can't think of any other situation where any sane adult would consider mutilating a child permanently and then trying to justify it as a religious rite or for 'possible prevention of potential infection problems in the future as 'normal'.
Unless you consider fgm in the same light.
Using that rationale why not make it 'customary to tie a young woman's fallopian tubes before their periods start ?
It would save a fortune in teen pregnancy issues.
Save a fortune in having to buy 'feminine products' (there's an entire industry making money from those who find it an unfortunate expense to deal with every month)
Using that same rationale why not tie a male teens tubes at puberty ?
Again would massively reduce any chance of contributing to teen pregnancy.
And what do teens need with active reproduction systems anyway ?
Since they're unlikely to be married.
