Well, if they’re a minor my answer would be different. I wouldn’t allow any surgery until they were over 18. I’d likely suggest therapy so they can sort out being comfortable with who they are and what life will bring next.
If they’re above 18 or not one of my children (meaning a relative), I’d do nothing but listen and be sure to be sympathetic as I have no way of understanding what it’d be like.
