Have you called police to your home? Why?

Years ago, I called the police around 2am because I heard something that sounded like someone trying to open the front door. I was really scared. The police came and checked around the house and then he stayed outside to make sure we were safe. Nothing happened after that and I felt secure.

Only when I still lived in New York and the first of three cars were stolen. Think the cops were struggling to keep a straight face when my naive self expressed some hope of it being recovered.

(When second and third cars were stolen, just took my happy ass to the precinct to get reports for my insurance company.)
