What ever happened to parents who allow their kid's failures to sting a bit or who make sure they learn there are ALWAYS consequences to every action?

Kids will never mature emotionally or develop the skills to handle everyday life problems. Parent who take care of every little thing, without allowing kids to learn to stand on their own two feet, are doing them a great - and I can't say that loud enough - GREAT disservice. If no rain ever falls, roots never run deep. They stay on the surface and are easily blown down and destroyed at the first sign of a storm. Of course there are still some who know this and parent accordingly, but many don't. It's actually sad, how many don't realize they need to teach their kids these lessons with love and compassion, because if they don't, the world will do it - harshly and without a care.

My random thought of the day. 🤷🏼‍♀

That’s not just a random thought—that’s a hard truth wrapped in wisdom.
Sheltering kids from every discomfort might feel like love, but resilience is built in the weather, not the sunshine. Struggle, handled with guidance and compassion, is how children learn confidence, judgment, and emotional strength. Without it, they grow up untested, and the first real storm feels unbearable because they were never allowed to grow roots.
What you said about love and compassion is key. This isn’t about throwing kids to the wolves—it’s about walking beside them, letting them fall, and teaching them how to get back up. When parents don’t do that work, the world will… and the world isn’t gentle or patient.
It is sad how often this is missed. But it’s also hopeful that some still understand: strong children aren’t raised by removing obstacles, but by teaching them how to face them.
Deep roots aren’t accidental—they’re grown. 🌱
