Illegal immigrants cannot get health insurance.

As someone who has worked in healthcare and health insurance companies, I confirm. For a member to be enrolled in our health insurance policies they needed to be a citizen or at least have a green card and social security number. And that was for both Medicaid and private insurance.

It's a point of frustration that people don't understand this. And honestly they pay into Social security via the payroll tax but can't draw on it.

Absolutely. My youngest sister (nurse) and close friend (hospital administrator) have spoken to me about undocumented immigrants waiting until they or their child is near death and then going to the ER.

Obviously not something people with ready access to health insurance do.

Of course, you tell that to a MAGA, the reply is invariably, "well, they shouldn’t be here !" 😓
