Most people say "physical appearance doesnt matter.. Its whats important is in the inside" .. Is this really true? Be honest lol

I always go on by a person on the inside but people always say it to me it's not what you look like it's who you are but yet i have been treated very unfair and most people take one look at me and there gone so I don't know what to believe.
