When someone shows you who THEY are, always believe them the first time they show you.

@swirlie Eventually the mask will drop
@peterlee
That was my point... the mask drops the first time they show us who they are, not eventually.

@swirlie you are more astute than me.
@peterlee
No, I am not more astute than you because you and I are both equals. When someone does or says something that we simply cannot believe, we tend to turn a blind eye to it and pretend to ourselves that what we witnessed simply didn't happen.

The truth is, it DID happen and it only happened because the person in question typically operates that way! That is why I say that when someone says something, does something, or behaves in a certain way that seems out of character for them, they are showing us who they are which our mind's eye often refuses to believe because we don't want it to be true.

When someone shows us who they are, believe them the first time you witness it.

@swirlie I agree with what you are saying, too long we are in denial.
@peterlee
We enter a stage of denial for everything in life that we don't want to be true. We do this to protect ourselves, not knowing that we are actually hampering our own growth and healing by choosing to go into denial, rather than face whatever it is that we are protecting ourselves from.
