What Would You Do?
Around 4pm I stopped at the local Dollar General store.
For once, there were zero people in there besides one checkout clerk, who I saw while walking in.
I had literally never seen it so empty. I only needed two items.
I got the items and went to the checkout.
It was silent. A grave town. I stood there a few seconds, looking around, then I said, "hello?"
Nothing.
So then I looked down the first 4 aisles (vertically from the front of store/checkout, looking down the aisles was like 10 steps total, the way the store is laid out, I didn't walk down every single aisle) to try and find any person.
At aisle 4 I see someone moving a product into place and then walking towards me. I'm still not sure if it's an employee but then I see the tag.
Basically....part of me thought I should have walked out with my two items right away. Especially after saying "hello?" and hearing nothing. It would have been SO easy and I swear.....with how long that person took....I almost think they wanted me to do it. The door is literally 20 feet from checkout.
Especially since during checkout they said, "Yeahhhhh it's just me til 6pm".
And also my total was only $11.
The other part of me knows it's wrong and that temptation is a trick.
What do you think?
