What's something you got told young you found out later was made up?

Besides holiday lies...tooth fairy,,, storks delivering baby's,,,

Mine was that rabbits carry the pinkeye virus.
My mom told me that so I would stop carrying them around with me.

@SomeMichGuy my mom was a nurse and very antigerm, I love animals took them everywhere. Most of the rabbits had pink eyes so it made sense to me.
