I guess by the "Keep the house and travel" you mean to rent it out, because otherwise, unless you have tons of money in your pension, you won't be able to afford to travel.
If you live in a big city you can sell your house, move outside the city and buy something nicer with more land, and have lots of money to travel with, so you could do both top options.
If your house has a suite in it, you might be able to live off that money, but the income is not a guarantee, so maybe when you are in Honduras on the beach you find out the people stopped paying the rent.

@JamesBugman Rather narrow view of options.
Looks like l will downsize and own new place outright. Will put some of the extra $$ toward camper or RV to travel the county in. Rest will go into laddered CDs or HY money market. Will still be able to travel some by air .. I have nearly 1MM freq flyer miles at the moment.

@BrandNewMan The only addition you made was to mention what you would invest in. I didn't bring that part up. Your selection was the same as mine. So I guess we both have very narrow views.

@JamesBugman No, the house will be paid off and the plan would be to keep it as home base when not traveling. If that is the route I chose.
