Is our dad currently your legal guardian? This may be a good time to talk this over with him.
If there are parts of your life that you think would be best managed by someone else there are a variety of "power of attorney" that may be given to another. Some general, some specific, dome durable. etc.
Is your dad in some way providing for you? Like do you live at home? Does he provide financial support? All good reasons why it would be a good time to talk to him about your fears. Also, you may be named in your father's will, or listed on a deed or bank account and seeking a legal guardian without his awareness may have a consequence on him and your step mom.
