I have gone as long as four weeks, long story why, other than I was an 18 year old on my own and was never taught by my mother how to shop and budget properly, maybe because she actually didn't know how to herself.
@NativePortlander1970 At 18 you still had to be fed by a parent? What are you, an owl chick?
@LowBorn No, I lived on my own after aging out of a group home she threw me into, choosing her second husband over me. Ever since I could remember she was a spend thrift and never budgeted, spent money on herself left and right, including the survivor's benefits my older brothers and I were getting when our Dad died when I was ten, while growing up she barely did any grocery shopping, and when she did it was when we were in school. When I was in my group home a central kitchen cooked our meals that we'd pick up and take to our cottages, which four housed eight of us, and an orientation cottage housed another ten that would wait until a "regular" room opened up, they didn't teach us budgeting or shopping skills either for when we aged out and were on our own.
