Dose anyone find reviews helpful when buying furniture?

For some furniture, yeah.
Mattress reviews are always useless. Any single mattress has both given someone their life back, and ruined their existence.

What's helpful is sitting in or around the furniture before you buy it. Almost every review you'll read on anything will have the same writing style used in making each review, which means the same person is typing each review!
