Seriously, the cell phone. Coming from the days when having a pager was big time, but if you were driving you still had to find a payphone. So being able to make and receive important phone calls virtually anywhere was a real game changer.

@bijouxbroussard Oh yes, having to find a payphone is so much worse than not being able to walk.
@Nitedoc ???
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@bijouxbroussard Sorry. That was uncalled for.

@Nitedoc Funny, I've never seen someone text, take a picture or log onto the internet with a pay phone....

@originnone And that convenience is one of the greatest develops in out time?
originnone · 61-69, M
@Nitedoc without question. people have at their fingertips things that I couldn't get a computer as big as my house to do when I was in school.

I'd challenge you to identify a more significant one
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@originnone"More significant" Depends on your values. I fully agree that computers have changed our lives for the better, so far. It is one of man's greatest achievements. The greatest, no, in my humble opinion.

@Nitedoc That's fair...but not an unreasonable answer....
@Nitedoc The availability of cell phones has also saved countless lives. I was also thinking of how it’s become possible for 911 to track via cell towers and find people in emergency situations, not to mention seeing an accident and being able to call for help on the spot rather than seeking out a payphone. I get that there have been many other advances, but this is what came to mind from my life experiences.

@bijouxbroussard That's true. I do think it's a great invention. Just not the greatest. I don't know what the greatest invention is. It's a matter of perspective.
@Nitedoc It is perspective. "Greatest" is almost always subjective.

@bijouxbroussard True, I sometimes have my blinders on.
