Is a gift voucher a lazy present?

It's my friend's birthday today too and I had no idea what to give her so I sent her a liquor store voucher.
Borderline · M
Are you kidding? No, It's an excellent gift. In my friend circles and business, it's the ultimate gift!

The only difference, is we have it delivered, with the exception of a Golf outing, on said Birthday! 😊
poetryandwine · 56-60, F
No, it's a great idea. Get to pick their own present. 👍
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@poetryandwine and its a store full of libations.
scooogy · 31-35, MVIP
The last one I got was lame, because it was for multiple stores. If you show you care about someone's interests by knowing their favorite stores to shop at and buy vouchers as a present there, then that's far from lame in my opinion.
GunFinger · F
@scooogy thank you.😊
Ontheroad · M
Perfectly acceptable and a heck of a lot better than the gift you get that you put in the closet and later regift to someone who puts it in their closet to later regift.
I would rather have cash... I suck at making choices on what to buy and restricting me to a specific shop makes matters even worse for me.
GunFinger · F
@HootyTheNightOwl she of course won't accept cash. Even I won't.😋
@GunFinger What's wrong with cash, though??? I mean... you're going to spend it to buy a voucher that's basically just a credit for a place...

I don't understand people's thinking at times??? 🤔

I used to sell my birthday vouchers to my mother for face value so that I could have the cash and leave her to use the voucher for Christmas shopping or whatever. Now that she is gone, I will probably put them on Facebook marketplace for face value.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
No problem unless she's in AA.

But I'd say a voucher isn't as good as a "special" present, but far better than a present the person has no use for.
Iwillwait · M
I think it says, "I care enough to allow you to choose your heart's desire." (Now that's generosity)
GunFinger · F
@Iwillwait thank you.😊
SW-User
i like gift cards and cash. and i'd be happy to be your friend ;)
GunFinger · F
@SW-User ok let me know when your birthday is and your email address.😉
GunFinger · F
@SW-User and,,we're friends aren't we?🤔
SW-User
@GunFinger yes, we are 🤗 i was just bein' silly
crystalkid · 56-60, T
Admittedly I’d prefer one to the lingerie store, but the liquor store would be a good choice too 💖
GunFinger · F
@crystalkid thank you.😊
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
Cash is the laziest....
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@bijouxbroussard That is a different question....and I agree in those circumstances.
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@TheSirfurryanimalWales You would get a voucher to a 'blow up dolly look alike' shop....accessorised of course.
@KiwiBird very popular here and anywhere else with sheep 🐑😀
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
Does she like booze? If yes. Then it's a good gift!
GunFinger · F
@Tomorrow yes, she has rose wine on Fridays.😊
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
@GunFinger Perfect! 😊
SW-User
No some people are hard to shop for
GunFinger · F
@SW-User so true.😊
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
If she drinks she’ll like it.
GunFinger · F
@cherokeepatti she does.😊
I like gift vouchers....
GunFinger · F
@TheSirfurryanimalWales same here, especially when it's useful for me.😊
GunFinger · F
@mysteryespresso I'd like to think I'm a good friend. I'm always herefor her.😊
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
I'd marry you for that
No. You want them to have something they would like. If you know the person likes wine or cocktails, or often kicks back with a beer, for example, that would be a perfect gift.
A gift certificate is better than spending money on something they can’t use.
GunFinger · F
@bijouxbroussard right. Thank you.😊

@Justenjoyit thank you.😊
empanadas · 31-35, M
Man I had no idea wtf a gift voucher was. We call them gift cards and the answer is no. Everybody needs some wine here and there. You just don't know her brand
GunFinger · F
@empanadas lol.. yeah she could choose what she wants. Thanks Taco.😊
