Do you test yourself for COVID whenever you have a cough or a cold?

Is this the norm now? I don't like to test my kids everytime they cough or sneeze or have a fever coz it's Winter here it would be understandable it's the flu season too. If I do it everytime I'll be spending a fortune and I don't have that much to spare.

I’ve only had one cold-cough since COVID so yes I did then. If I got them often I’m not sure what I’d do. It would depend on if I was traveling, etc.
I test myself at least every week regardless of symptoms.
I won't for a couple of months since I just had it
