I Have a Question

So about a year and a half ago I had surgery at 16. Since after I've suffered so much depression, and I really struggled to get back to my normal self as there was all sorts of complications such as infections after. Although my results were good!, thankfully. But I know I suffer anxiety and depression anyway but I was just thinking if maybe it affected me, having the surgery?. Has anybody else ever suffered the same sort of experience?. I feel helpless :(
I had some MAJOR surgery at the same age. And yes, I believe that the medical issues affected my mental health. 1) I was near death before the surgery to fix the issue 2) The meds....lots and lots of meds including a lot of steroids... they can mess with your mind 3)the feeling that "you are not in charge". Who is? =Doctors, nurses, mom/dad? Certainly not you. You probable feel as if you are constantly in a waiting room and you have no control. I know I felt that way. 4) you just want to be a normal teen doing normal teen things - but you can't, because you are not in control.

Yes. It certainly can be depressing.

I don't know what to tell you, except that it does get better with time...

Thank you, I know it will get better :) I'm sorry to hear of your experience. Take good care.

It was keyhole surgery, laporoscopy. I had an 8cm ovarian cyst, I know people say it's not a big operation but it was obviously extremely painful and I was very young to have this sort of thing.

I suffered anxiety and depression for a long time. Have the physical problems of the surgery healed?
