Aesthetic goals of tattoos

I have been accused of being vain because I got a fairly large tattoo on my ribcage but I actually think that getting tattoos to hide, distract, people from their body is just as (if not more) likely. The logic behind it is that other people would judge the tattoo and not their body.

I know people get tattoos for many different reasons. Paying homage to a loved one who passed away, alligience to country/club, signal a change in their life. I’m referring to people who get tattoos done just for aesthetic reasons.

Any thoughts?

There's nothing wrong with getting tattoos because they look aesthetically pleasing.

@SW-User I didn't mean to imply there is. The question was when it comes to aesthetics is the goal of the tattoo to embellish the body or distract as a point of focus?

@EuphoricTurtle Wouldn't that change from person to person?

@SW-User That's what I thought until @KickfaceK's example of how one person can do both.
