I Have a Question

Is 39 to old for another child? Anyone here have a baby in their late 30's to early 40's?
I never thought it was odd. And I appreciate that I was raised a little more old fashioned, but overall it wasn't too different. My mom didn't have as much energy as she would've if she had had me younger. I think that was her only regret about it. She died in 2011 at the age of 68. Part of me is a little sad that she couldn't have had me when she was younger so we could have had more time together. However, at the same time I was young enough that taking care of her for the last couple of years of her life wasn't too hard on my physically. I mean, it was hard obviously, but not as hard as it would've been if I'd been older, you know? I think, regardless, there are the same pros and cons as having a child at any other age. Sure, you'll have less energy and less time with your children. But you'll have young children to help you around the house once they get a little older...and as for the amount of time with them, that's never a given. I say talk to your doctor and if things look good for you, go for it. Btw, my dad is still going strong at 72. I just turned 30 this April. :)

Personally I would not consider it. I am also 39 and for me one of the problems would be looking ahead to the future. I would be 50 when the child was 10, and 60 when it was 20... Which to be seems rather too much of an experiential gap to be able to relate well to them...

But then again, I am already a bit of old fart, and perhaps you have a much more youthful outlook naturally :)

My parents had me at 45. A lot of people have a kid at 40 nowadays.
My mom was 41 when she had me :)
My aunt had her first when she was 49.

Not sure if there is any truth or if it is an old wives tale, but i heard that it is too old for a first child, but if youve slready had ond or more, it is fine. Not sure if that was referring to phydical problems or emotional. But you said another, so it doesnt matter.
