I honestly don't know. On one side you can't fix stupid and the other side some people just need to be educated to gain some perspective.

yes, there is hope for humanity. but probably not a humanity that you or are recognize. the explosion of sentimental love, conciousness of suffering, love of freedom of thought and choice that we currently link to our definitions of "humanity" is a fairly recent invention. It is a byproduct of an age of abundance, a gift from our discoveries of steam, electrical, fossil fuel and nuclear power that has also allowed us to bring our biospheres ever closer to collapse. Historically, human life has been short, nasty, brutish and clannish - we lived just about long enough to make some babies, most of which died, and then we died ourselves - the past 200 years are a complete anomaly. Looking back even further, at life outside of the human species, the only lifeforms that have withstood the test of time are ones we would consider completely soulless - bacteria, trees, sharks, cockroaches, ants, crocodiles etc. If we are going to last in this plane of existence for any significant length of time, we shall probably grow closer to that form of existence. My guess is the integration of mankind with virtual reality and eventually direct integration with technology as cyborgs will increase our capabilities immensely but at the same time strip away most of what we consider our humanity.
