I'll Keep Your Secret

Without going into details I fell for it. She contacted me, saying she knew I was her only real friend. We talked. We had a lunch.
Coming back from the men's room I overheard her on the phone: "We're having lunch. He thinks everything's alright. Yeah he's nice but he's just an old man. He's nobody. He's something to kill time and get a free meal."
I motioned for the waiter, paid the check and left her at the booth. I didn't say goodbye. There was nothing more to be said.

I'm putting my account on 'vacation mode' and taking a break from SW. I know you're probably tired of hearing about her.
I'm simply tired.

I thank you all for your time, kind words, humor, and understanding. I feel so incredibly socially irrelevant.

Thank you.

I was referring to your paying your half, but not hers. It's safe to look again. You'll know the good, mostly by the eyes, I've noticed. One can tell their intent from them. Someone once said the eyes are the window of the soul. I tend to agree. When people treat you terribly, it is no reflection on you, but says everything about them. I know I'd sure be honored to have a friend like you, and you'd never have to buy me a thing. I value my friendships, and I've been looking for someone around my age to be friends with. Don't let her bother you anymore. You're just fortunate that she showed her true colors and you're not stuck with this toxic person, another minute. I'm sure there are lots of good ladies out there who would treasure your friendship. Think about those. I have an old saying I made up, that has helped me in life.

"Never let yesterday, steal joy from today." It works!
