I'll Keep Your Secret
Over the years I've found myself sitting down with a person and for some reason or other I'd hear "I've never told anyone this before" or some such words. I guess people can sense in me, after talking with me for a while, that I'm trustworthy enough to keep their secret.
Growing up as a kid I had to keep a fairly painful secret close to my chest, so maybe that has something to do with it. I understand that burden. Sometimes all someone wants is to have someone truly listen, to be free from being judged, so they can let out what they need and find a little peace within themselves. It's not much for anyone to ask. I think sites like Similar Worlds allows people to do this more often now to the general public instead, but whether it has the same effect as talking to someone in private I would have to ask. This is definitely one of the advantages of anonymity, regardless.
