Ive often wondered

Why do they refer to hot weather as "Muggy?" Nobody's ever been mugged in this weather, and im pretty sure the instances of muggings dont increase because its just too damn hot to go out and mug people

The word "muggy" likely originates from Old Norse words like mugga or mugr, meaning "drizzle" or "mist". These words were associated with humid conditions, and their use eventually led to the English word "muggy," which describes warm, humid, and still air.
